Affordable after school care is available on school days from dismissal to 6:30 pm. Students will get homework time with assistance, an afternoon snack, and supervised playtime in a familiar, safe environment.
Special Programs
In addition to our regular after school care we offer special programs five days a week from 3:30-5:30pm. These trimester-long courses include Art, Chess, Drama, Spanish, Band, STEM, and Athletics. Our special programs are a great deal! For only $5 more per session than the regular after school rate, your child gets homework time, an afternoon snack, and after school care until 6:30, all in addition to the special program. Offerings vary across the year with up to 11 different programs offered each trimester.
After School Special Programs-Course Descriptions
Chess Grades 1-8 Learn the fundamentals of chess and beyond. Class includes lessons in strategy, peer competitions, and culminates in a tournament. Offered on a trimester basis.
Drama Grades 3-8 Drama instruction and practice under professional dramatic artists. One of our most popular classes. Students participating in all 3 trimesters perform mid-year and end of year in a live production for school and family members. Full year program
Band Please register separately through ed.pemusic.com - After School Included (Full Year) Learn to play a traditional band instrument, violin, or - new this year - guitar. Students can register and participate fully in both Band and other offerings on the same day. Recital at year end.
Spanish Grades 1-8 , 2:45 - 3:30, Enrich your Spanish Language learning through fun activities. Students taking this course will perform Spanish song and dance routines in our Christmas and Spring Shows (10 sessions - $100 After School Not Included) Add After School to Spanish for an additional $100 (10 sessions - $200 total)
Art Grades 1-8 Students will unleash their creativity while exploring a range of art techniques, materials, and subjects. To spark their imagination, the program also introduces them to art history and art from around the globe. As they create, students will build confidence, develop problem-solving skills, and enjoy interacting with their peers in a fun and relaxed environment. Offered on a trimester basis.
Gaming Grades 3-8 A hands-on experience with a wide range of gaming technologies and tools. Participants explore virtual reality (VR) with headsets, play on various consoles, and use computers to experiment with gaming emulators and design their own games. The program incorporates creative elements like playing cards and construction paper for game prototyping, while iPads, projectors, and smart boards are used for interactive lessons and presentations. Through collaborative projects, students develop both their technical and creative skills in a fun, engaging environment. Offered on a trimester basis.
Cooking Grades 4-8 Taking the learning to the kitchen with cooking and baking sessions is a delicious way to incorporate math and reading skills. Cooking classes are part of a drive to educate young people on the style of independent living; this class can be a great platform to expand their horizons. Learning where food comes from, how it’s grown, the benefits of a balanced diet, and the effects of a bad one are all key elements that can be easily woven into the curriculum. Cooking classes are also a hands-on approach to learning and engaging children by giving them a tasty reward after class. Offered on a trimester basis.
LEGO Robotics Grades 3-8 Learn Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math in this hands-on course. Students will design, build, and program robots while expanding their creativity and problem-solving skills. Offered on a trimester basis.
Dance Grades 1-8, 3:30 - 5:30 Explore the concepts of improvisation, learning choreography, and composition. Inspired by contemporary and modern dance forms, this class is accessible to those with little or no prior experience. There will be a short dance performance at the end of the trimester. Let’s Move: Self Defense - Krav Maga Grades 1-8 Krav Maga is insanely fun and very practical. It teaches simple but incredibly effective techniques to stay safe in the urban environment while combining physical development, sharpening of reflexes, and the fine-tuning of motor skills. This is a very empowering program. Offered on a trimester basis.
Let’s Move: Soccer Grades The curriculum focuses on providing kids with the knowledge and sports-specific skills necessary to achieve proficiency in the most popular sports in the world while developing strong leadership/teamwork habits and introducing basic game theory/strategy. Offered on a trimester basis.
Let’s Move: Volleyball Grades 1-8 The after-school volleyball program encourages students to stay active while learning the basics of volleyball, improving coordination, and working together as a team. Through skill-building activities and friendly competition, students develop confidence, discipline, and a love for the game. Offered on a trimester basis.
Let’s Move: Pickleball Grades 1-8 This game is currently sweeping America and is one of the most popular activities for kids across the country. A smaller version of tennis played with paddles and a perforated ball, the court for 4 players can be set up anywhere and takes up very little room. This is a super fun activity that is very easy to learn and offers an incredible workout filled with teamwork and healthy competition at the same time. Offered on a trimester basis.
